Our History
Originally a homestead owned by Laban Atwater Smith, an idea was had to turn the land into Portland's first golf course. In November 1926, the club's first president, S. A. Horning, convened a meeting and a decision was made to officially establish the new course. Howard Benson from Lansing and Charles Lockwood from Portland generously provided enough land for 18 holes. PCC officially opened in July 1927 and has been in continuous operation ever since.
